The lockdown around the world due to the novel coronavirus has caused massive losses to a huge number of businesses around the world. The casino industry has incurred big losses as all public gatherings were restricted by the government.
The King’s Resort in Rozvadov, the biggest casino in Europe, closed its doors to all Italian players after the number of positive cases in the country kept on increasing. After a while, due to the surprising increase in the number of deaths in the Czech Republic, the casino announced that it’ll remain closed till the beginning of September at least.
Now that the total number of cases have been reduced and the number of new cases is decreasing, King’s have decided to reopen the resort.
“King’s Resorts Rozvadov, King’s Casino Prague and Admiral Casino Rozvadov open again on May 11th at 15:00!”
Although live poker tournaments will not be resumed, live games such as roulette, slots and BlackJack will be available.
The lockdown restrictions have been eased a bit in the country with the number of cases reducing at a steady rate. Now the citizens are allowed non-essential movement, travel abroad and are allowed to meet up with a maximum of 10 people at a time.
King’s Casino owner Leon Tsoukernik said,
“Closed casinos cost me the same as open casinos and I can’t wait to welcome guests again.”
In order to reopen safely, casinos will have to figure out a way to change the environment and few procedures to reduce the risk of spreading the virus. King’s announced that they are in process of implementing their health and safety strategy by maintaining hygiene standards, including hand sanitizers for guests and frequent disinfection of all areas.

The Main Event has one of the best structures in tournament poker despite its low buy-in. Players start with a massive stack of 50,000 chips and play to a blind structure that starts as low as 50/100! Day 1 is played to a 45-minute clock but subsequent days have this increased to 60-minutes which lends itself to the more skilful players as effective stacks are deeper for longer.
Along with its own selection of cash games, daily tournaments and the superb King's Deepstack Series, the King's Casino Rozvandov is also the home of the popular German Championship of Poker (GCOP). The opening Main Event if GCOP II (March 2012) attracted 196 players and they were outlasted by Germany's Jeno Halmai who walked away with €49,000 from his €1,100 entry fee. GCOP II Vol 2/6 took place in May 2012 and saw 189 players turn out for the €1,600 Main Event which was chopped heads up by Marek Blasko and Zohar Spivack who took home €62,100 and €63,600 respectively.

The next GCOP festival runs between Wednesday, July 4 and Monday, July 9 with the highlight being the €1,100 buy-in Main Event, which boasts a €200,000 guaranteed prize pool.
